When I had a baby with me, and other babies with me in the cradle was working 12 hour shifts cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! The house was starting to appear nice, however there was a lot to be done. The project would require a lot of money effort as well as my favourite brands of furniture furnishings for this house. To keep within budget, I began taking my kids to estate sales in search of diamonds. Every week, we spent the week of Thursday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. In the end, I repainted and smoothed the driveway in the week. My love for furniture repair started with an appearance like this. I continued to work on furniture long after we decorated our house. I had a space in the market at my local location and even sold some items there. I was able to outgrow my space because I owned numerous pieces I was able to use. My home was where I would host open houses, where over 1,000 people were able to come in and buy any item they wanted from the first floor within a single weekend. Growing Days is the result from this. Growing Days wasn't just an incredibly successful business, but it was also a loving family. In some ways, I had found the perfect equilibrium between motherhood and launching my company. Growing Days just seemed to work. Nora joined us in 2013 as our 4th baby. Although I was happy about the direction my company was taking, I realized that I was in need of a little break. I decided to put off working on my antique furniture for a while and stay home with the children. This was precisely what I needed at the moment. But after a short time the phone started getting busy. There were calls from people asking me for help with the interior design and renovations of their home. The majority of them were those who had walked through my house during open houses for furniture! I began taking on clients at a time going at my own pace but it didn't take long before I had numerous accounts and had an entire home improvement business. There is a good chance that I would have laughed if I had been told that the venture was going to be part of a forthcoming tv program on DIY Network. Actually, I smile at times when I think of the story.
