Laura Linney, best known for her strong but fragile characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of the present. Born to a renowned playwright's father but was raised by a single mom who worked as a nurse, she became interested in theatre while spending summers with her father then pursuing acting studies, initially as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. After graduating from Brown University she began making her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. In the space of two years from the time, her debut film came out and the next year her TV debut. In the years since, she's appeared in numerous films, television productions and stage plays. There have been numerous awards throughout her career. They include the four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Her nominations include five Tony Awards and three Academy Award nominations. However, despite her recognitions and awards, theatre is still her passion and she will continue to play on stage and screen.
